Class Today at NoBullU on WEBY

Listen to the voice of wisdom and reason in a wilderness of partisan rhetoric -- No political insanity, no conservative hypocrisy, no liberal foolishness -- Just straight talk, straight at you, and that’s no bull!!

NoBullU will broadcast today from 4:05 to 6:00 p.m. at 1330 AM WEBY and on line.

Topics:

Local Business Shout-Out: TBD.

Follow-up:

Fact-free fantasies: : don't be duped by the Birthers, including our very own Pastor Dred Scott (you may remember the infamous Dred Scott decision of 1857, which asserted that African Americans were "beings of an inferior order" who "had no rights which the white man was bound to respect." That ruling declared that African Americans could never be U.S. citizens and therefore could never be President), and

Church support for slavery and opposition to civil rights (4 major American Churches split over the issue of slavery, forming northern and southern factions, including:

The Methodist Church: In 1861, the North Carolina Christian Advocate wrote of "the demon spirit of abolitionism" and how Southern Methodists had "tested it fully, and found it to be heartless, inhuman and Christless." Although the two factions reunited in 1939 as the Methodist Church, they retained racial segregation.

The country's Presbyterian Church also split into two.

The Baptist Church: The Southern Baptists are the largest and most reactionary christian denomination in the USA. They split away from the Baptists in 1845 over slavery, because they thought that slavery was okay. After the civil war, some Southern Baptists founded the Ku Klux Klan. In the 1960s, the Southern Baptists supported segregation laws and opposed the black civil rights movement. In 1995, the Southern Baptist Convention issued an apology to all African-Americans and asked for their forgiveness.
)

Local and regional: school district lawsuit update, ransom paid, lawsuits dismissed, and hello globalization, good-bye jobs, Clearwire jobs headed overseas, that makes two county employers, Lumber 84 in the Santa Rosa County Industrial Park is closing;

National and international: I'm waiting, where's the balanced budget, don't hold you breath because the Republi-CONs Con the Tea Party, there'll be no $100 billion budget cut, and let's admit the obvious, the Republi-CONs are not serious about deficits, and who's responsible for the debt

'What would Jesus cut?'

Don't be duped by CONgress

Damn the unemployed, Republi-CON polly wants a tax cut

The myth of expansionary austerity

Let play you choose: who gets paid (and who doesn't),

To balance the budget, end tax expenditures, better known as tax deductions, which amounted to about $1 trillion in 2009,

To balance the budget, do nothing

Choose your medicine

Call the Republi-CON bluff

Let's play the Republi-CON game of 'spot the contradiction', can you explain the Republi-CON contradiction as regards the economy, the debt ceiling, or deficits, or national security, or health care costs, or or even jobs

Fear, anger, and hatred = violence, again

150 years later

Congressional government reform hypocrisy

More Republi-CON family values hypocrisy

Name that Florida Republi-CON,

Beware the so-called fair tax

The myth of voter fraud

Who is your favorite 2012 GOP candidate, or do you have a favorite not-yet-a-candidate?, or none of the above,

President Sexpot?

More premarital sex and another shotgun wedding for the Palin clan

The health care industry bottomline, the reason Republi-CON want to repeal the new health care law

Believe it or not: DUI/DWI at the demolition derby

CSI dog poop,

Who you callin a Neanderthal

Giving new meaning to navel gazing,

Another Republi-CON myth buster, no the government isn't banning incandescent light bulbs

Big brother is watching you,

and 'The Great Stagnation' and our broken political system;

Fun stuff: twelve things that a motorcycle can teach, do I look fat responses before the divorce, random thoughts, questions a dog might ask God, did you ever wonder . . ., the liquid nitrogen burger, paraprosdokians, the Y Generation, Husband Day Care, and cute little cats in 'It Could Be Worse';

and

Donate to a good cause: help the friends of a former instructor at the Naval EOD school at Eglin Air Force Base, Gunnery Sgt. John Hayes, who was detachment company gunnery sergeant from June 2007 to June 2010 and taught several courses and was recently wounded in Afghanistan.

I'll discuss anything, but expect a no mercy take down if you are a shrieking hatemonger of right-wing rhetoric and partisan hackery, pandering to fear, anger and hatred, because the truth sure makes it hard out there for the party pimps.

So tune-in, call-in, but only if you can handle the truth and some ass kickin' discussion of politics and current events.

Choose Your Medicine

UPDATE II: The longer the Republi-CONs refuse to compromise, the bigger the debt. See the Washington Post, The incredible, shrinking debt deal in one graph, which shows:

UPDATE: "Over the last several weeks, leaders in Washington have proposed various plans to address the nation’s growing deficit as a condition of raising the debt ceiling by Aug. 2. [Review a] running comparison of some of the major proposals or ideas that have been released" at The New York Times, Comparing Deficit-Reduction Plans.

From the New York Times, A Debt Ceiling Cheat Sheet: 8 Possible Plans, which are nicknamed:

1. The Grand Bargain,
2. The Half-Bargain,
3. The House Cuts,
4. The White House Cuts,
5. The Stop-Gap,
6. The Balanced Budget Plan,
7. The McConnell Option, and
8. The Hybrid McConnell.

And as I've said before, there is the NoBullU solution for the federal deficit and debt is: restructure the federal government (to end Congressional free lunchism), reform the federal tax code (so that revenues pay for ALL government spending), and amend the Constitution to require a balanced federal budget (because Congress can't control its spending).

Congressional Government Reform Hypocrisy

"Like many members of Congress, Rep. Michele Bachmann has been a fierce critic of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, blaming the government-backed loan programs for excesses that helped create the financial meltdown in 2008.

And like millions of other home purchasers, Bachmann took out a home loan in 2008 that offered lower costs to the borrower through one of the federally subsidized programs, according to mortgage experts who reviewed her loan documents."

Read the Washington Post, Bachmann benefitted from federal home loan program.

Beware the So-Called Fair Tax

Do you believe the myth that your boss will raise your salary when the income tax is eliminated? Fat chance.

When "various federal [aviation] taxes expired, most airlines lifted prices by an amount equal to the customer’s savings." Read The New York Times, A Bonanza for Airlines as Taxes End.

The Health Care Industry Bottomline, the Reason Republi-CON Want to Repeal the New Health Care Law

UPDATE III: More proof that it's all about the health care industry bottomline.

"One of the nation’s largest providers of kidney dialysis deliberately wasted medicine in order to reap hundreds of millions of dollars in extra payments from Medicare, a former clinic nurse and a doctor are charging in a whistle-blower lawsuit." Read The New York Times, Lawsuit Says Drugs Were Wasted to Buoy Profit.

UPDATE II: Speaking of health care industry profits, "the nation’s bloated annual health-care tab would swell by more than $4 billion" after a company raised the price of a medicine from $20 to $1,500 per dose. Read the Washington Post, Critics slam cost of FDA-approved drug to prevent preterm births.

UPDATE: "In a world where the two parties' top priority on health care was providing answers for the uninsured and cost control, an argument over the best way to do health-care reform would be a very healthy thing. But that's not what we've got. We've got the Democratic Party, whose top priority is to try and solve our health-care problems and who've shown their commitment to that by moving steadily rightward over the last century in a bid to pick up Republican support for some sort of solution, and the Republican Party, whose top priority is that we shouldn't do whatever the Democrats are proposing and have proven their commitment to that by abandoning previously favored policy proposals as soon as the Democrats demonstrated any interest in adopting them."

Further prrof that Republi-CONs want to repeal the new law to protect health care industry profits.

"Opponents of the health law sometimes suggest that cutting costs would be easy, with common-sense ideas. Several writers -- David Wessel, most recently -- have recently explained why that's not so. " Read The New York Times, Wishful Thinking on Health Costs.

So why the push to repeal the new law -- as I noted in an earlier post, without reform the cost of health care is projected to rise about 75%. But to the health care industry those higher costs mean higher profits. And since half the people in the country cheat and get their health coverage courtesy of Uncle Sam, the taxpayers pay. This is the reason the health care industry opposed reform and want their Republi-con political lapdogs to repeal the new law.

Of course, it make no difference to Congress, you pay for their health care, which they gladly accept even while claiming to oppose 'socialized medicine.'

Can you say sucker.

Twelve Things That a Motorcycle Can Teach

From an email:

1. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rear view mirror.

2. Four wheels might move the body... but two wheels move the soul.

3. I'd rather be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God than sitting in Church and thinking about my motorcycle.

4. Life may begin at 30 but it doesn't get interesting until about 95 . . . mph.

5. Midnight bugs taste just as bad as noontime bugs.

6. Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

7. A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

8. Young riders pick a destination and go, old riders pick a direction and go.

9. When you are riding lead, don't spit.

10. Catching a yellow jacket in your shirt at 75 mph can double your vocabulary.

11. I've never seen a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrist's office.

And Finally:

12. Only Bikers know why dogs stick their heads out car windows.

Don't Be Duped by CONgress

"Congress’s own budget has risen 55 percent over the past 10 years, from $1.2 billion in 2000 to $2.3 billion in 2010 . . . [and] Senate staffs swelled 'by nearly 25 percent . . . On the House side, staff was up 11 percent." Read the Washington Post, Coburn’s cuts: Congress should 'lead by example'.

Do I Look Fat Responses Before the Divorce

From an email:

Not to Stevie Wonder.

Big time! That's why I'm sleeping with your best friend.

No way! You look least fat in that outfit!

I guess there's not much point in asking if you mean fat with an 'f' or phat with a 'ph.'

No hablo ingles.

Yes, but it also makes you look like a pricey hooker, so things balance out.

No, but taking it off sure does.

Okay, listen: What's important is that you not focus in a negative way on the comparison I am about to make.

Not if you were travelling at the speed of light.

Yes, but in my country obesity suggests prosperity.

Let me jog around to your front and take a look.

Whoa! A talking couch!!

May I consult the Iraqi Minister of Information before answering that?

Republi-CON Polly Wants a Tax Cut

UPDATE III: Why can't the fat lady get a job? Globalization. Read The New York Times, Is There Hope for the Unemployed?, which compares employment growth in "those sectors whose output is traded across international borders (the tradable sectors) and is thus subject to competition from foreign producers, and those sectors whose output is not traded across international borders (the nontradable sectors)."

UPDATE II: "Our failure to create jobs is a choice rationalized by an ever-shifting set of excuses." Read The New York Times, No, We Can’t? Or Won’t?, which notes:

"The economy isn’t fixing itself. Nor are there real obstacles to government action: both the bond vigilantes and structural unemployment exist only in the imaginations of pundits. And if stimulus seems to have failed, it’s because it was never actually tried."

UPDATE: "The nation’s economic woes boil down to this. Compared with a healthy economy, about 7 million working-age people and 5 percent of the nation’s industrial capacity are sitting idle, not producing what they could. The economy is growing again, but at a rate — less than 2 percent in recent months — that’s too slow to keep up with a population that keeps increasing and workers who keep getting more efficient." Read the Washington Post, Why it doesn't feel like a recovery, which includes a great interactive graph showing the the output gap.

Ask any Republi-con politician for his/her solution for the economic downturn and inevitably s/he will parrot the Republi-con economic elixir: tax cuts, tax cuts. But supply-side economics isn't the answer this time, the system is awash in cheap money. Read The New York Times, Cheap Debt for Corporations Fails to Spur Economy.

As I said in February 2009, tax cuts are not the answer, this downturn won't be over 'til the fat lady gets a job.

Sub Today at NoBullU on WEBY

Usually on Thursdays you can listen to me, the voice of wisdom and reason in a wilderness of partisan rhetoric -- no political insanity, no conservative hypocrisy, no liberal foolishness -- just straight talk, straight at you, and that’s no bull!!

But I can't make it today. I'll be back next week to deprogram you.

Meet the Republi-CONs

"They fall into a few categories:" The Beltway Bandits, The Big Government Blowhards, The Show Horses, and The Permanent Campaigners. Read The New York Times, The Road Not Taken. My favorite:

"The Big Government Blowhards. The talk-radio jocks are not in the business of promoting conservative governance. They are in the business of building an audience by stroking the pleasure centers of their listeners.

They mostly give pseudo Crispin’s Day speeches to battalions of the like-minded from the safety of the conservative ghetto. To keep audience share, they need to portray politics as a cataclysmic, Manichaean struggle. A series of compromises that steadily advance conservative aims would muddy their story lines and be death to their ratings." (Link added.)

Sound like someone we know here at WEBY.

For Mom and Pop Tammy

UPDATE: As noted before, and discussed yesterday on the Dennis Prager Show, "[t]he Middle East fell behind the West because it failed to produce commercial institutions—most notably joint-stock companies—that were capable of mobilising large quantities of productive resources and enduring over time."

Sorry Tammy, but modern commerce would not exist with only Mom and Pop stores.

"Every day, Americans visit chain stores in search of bargains. A world without them might seem implausible. Even as the District of Columbia debates whether to welcome Wal-Mart, Washingtonians can buy Cheerios on special at Safeway and shop at the Liz Claiborne sale at Macy’s. From a Whirlpool dryer to Lady Gaga’s latest recording, the best price on name-brand merchandise is rarely found at independent neighborhood stores. But what would a world without chain stores look like?" Read the Washington Post, Imagining a world without chain stores.

Who You Callin a Neanderthal

UPDATE: "If your heritage is non-African, you are part Neanderthal." Read Discovery, All Non-Africans Part Neanderthal, Genetics Confirm.

DNA evidence suggests human-Neanderthal interbreeding. Read The New York Times, Our Inner Neanderthal and Kissing Cousins.

So what happened to Neanderthals? One commenter to the article stated: "Who says the Neanderthals disappeared? They all have jobs in the U.S Congress."

Who can argue with that.

School District Lawsuit Update

UPDATE III: Ransom paid, lawsuits dismissed. Read the Pensacola News Journal, 3-year Santa Rosa school prayer battle is over.

Believe It or Not: DUI/DWI at the Demolition Derby

"After David L. Warner Jr. won the Jessamine County Fair demolition derby on Wednesday night, police arrested him on a charge of driving under the influence and took him to jail.

According to a release from Nicholasville police, witnesses at the fair told police that 'Warner had consumed several Bud Light beers while he was preparing to drive in the derby.'"

What are Calories?

From an email:

Calories are the little bastards that get into your wardrobe at night and sew your clothes tighter.

I think my closet is infested with these little guys.

Enjoy Life, It Has an Expiration Date

An email with good advice:

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his Biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides, a burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things. And imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else. What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others faults and choosing to celebrate each others differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

So please pass me a biscuit. The burned one will do just fine! And remember, life is too short to wake up with regrets. Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.

Who's Responsible for the Debt

From the Washington Post, Who raised the debt ceiling?:

"Since 1980, the debt ceiling has been raised 39 times. It was raised 17 times under Ronald Reagan, four times under Bill Clinton and seven times under George W. Bush. Congress is currently in a contentious debate with the White House on whether to raise the ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline, which would make the fourth raise under Obama.

UPDATE II: Do you support "'Caylee's Law' [which] would make it a felony for parents or caregivers to not report the death of a child to authorities -- accidental or otherwise -- within one hour. Do you think that "the jury in the Casey Anthony trial was made up of the only 12 people in the entire United States who didn’t feel as though they already had enough evidence to pass judgment on Casey Anthony." Read the Washington Post, Does it matter if Casey Anthony was innocent?, which notes that:

"Casey Anthony will be joining the dark second circle of malign celebrity, whipped about by strong winds from Mary Kay LeTourneau’s Hot For Teacher Club Nights to O.J. Simpson “If I Did It” book parties. It’s almost inevitable at this point. For every three indignant screams on Twitter expressing the desire to club her and bring “street justice” against her, there are several expressing the desire to go clubbing with her.

"Sarah Palin hasn't jumped into the race for the White House (yet), but she believes the prize is there for the taking." She also says that she "can win a national election." Read Newsweek, Palin Plots Her Next Move.

But before you vote, you might want to review the cover shoot poses and consider whether she has the 'presidential look.' Here is a sneak peek:

Hello Globalization, Good-Bye Jobs

Recent GDP "numbers solve the mystery in the labor market. This isn’t about confidence or uncertainty or regulations or any of the other bankshot explanations we’ve been using to explain why unemployment seems stuck even as the economy rebounds. The economy isn’t rebounding. Demand isn’t returning. And without demand, there can’t be jobs." Read the Washington Post, The recovery-less recovery.

Republi-CONs Are Not Serious About Deficits

UPDATE: "The often-used storyline that Republicans are desperate to balance America’s books is false, and so is the one about the GOP and the Democrats both being prisoners of their ideological extremes." Read The Daily Beast, The GOP’s False Fiscal Narrative.

"Not to steal Bill Maher’s schtick, but new rule: if you’re not willing to consider tax increases, you’re not serious about deficits. Full stop. Just as rigid pacifists aren’t credible on national defense and dogmatic Christian Scientists are rarely consulted on health-care policy, a politician who has made an ideological vow to refuse to even consider tax increases is not interested in reducing deficits -- and that’s true no matter how often they say the word 'deficits.'" The 'Low-Down, No-Good Godawful' Bailout Worked (For the Banksters)

"The bailout of the financial system is roughly as popular as Wall Street bonuses, the federal budget deficit or LeBron James in a Cleveland sports bar. You hear over and over that the bailout was a disaster, it cost taxpayers a fortune, we didn’t really need it, it didn’t work, it was a failure. It has become politically toxic, which inhibits reasoned public discussion about it.

But you know what? The bailout, by the numbers, clearly did work. Not only did it forestall a worldwide financial meltdown, but a Fortune analysis shows that U.S. taxpayers are also coming out ahead on it — by at least $40 billion, and possibly by as much as $100 billion eventually. "

Independence Day Quiz

"The 4th of July is the time when we celebrate our nation-- a time to reflect on the freedoms which we believe are not granted by our government, but are self-evident rights for all humankind. Time for the Independence Day Quiz which asks, 'How much do you really know?'"

Good luck!

That ruling declared that African Americans could never be U.S. citizens and therefore could never be President), who does the devil's work and supports Middle East dictators, he also cites the Bible for his sexist beliefs, I suppose he supports slavery;

Health Questions

From email:

1. If walking/cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.

2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water and is fat.

3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.

4. A tortoise doesn't run, does nothing ..yet lives for 450 years.

Name That Florida Republi-CON

He "describes himself as a fiscal conservative, arguing that 'all taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects must be wise investments.' But he has pulled strings in Washington to get special consideration for [this pet] project. . . [spending] years badgering federal agencies, bullying state officials, blocking Amtrak naysayers and trying to bypass federal restrictions to build support and squash opposition to the commuter line."

However, this " 61-mile commuter rail project . . . ranks as one of the least cost-effective mass transit efforts in the nation.

With a price tag of $1.2 billion at completion, the rail line is expected to serve just 2,150 commuters a day when it starts operating in three years. It will not link to the Orlando airport or Disney World, among the region’s biggest traffic generators. Florida’s governor is even considering killing the project, worried that local government officials will rebel if they have to cover any shortfalls at the fare box.

But the so-called SunRail project has survived, at least so far, a testament to the ability of one congressman to help push through hundreds of millions of dollars in federal spending, even at a time of deep concern over ballooning federal deficits.

[He is] "chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, has spent years badgering federal agencies, bullying state officials, blocking Amtrak naysayers and trying to bypass federal restrictions to build support and squash opposition to the commuter line. . .

But skeptics question whether [his] real goal is to give a taxpayer-financed gift to CSX, the freight rail giant and a generous Mica campaign donor, which would get $432 million for its tracks and for upgrades to tracks it owns elsewhere in the state."

Read The New York Times, A Congressman’s Pet Project; a Railroad’s Boon.

Fishing vs Fornicating

From an email:

No matter how much whiskey you've had, you can still Fish.

You don't have to hide your Fishing magazines.

It is perfectly acceptable to pay a professional to Fish with you once in a while.

The Ten Commandments don't say anything against Fishing.

If your partner takes pictures or videotapes of you Fishing, you don't have to worry about them showing up on the Internet if you become famous.

Your Fishing partner doesn't get upset about people you fished with long ago.

It's perfectly respectable to Fish with a total stranger.

When you see a really good Fishing person, you don't have to feel guilty about imagining the two of you Fishing together.

If your regular Fishing partner isn't available, he/she won't object if you Fish with someone else.

Nobody will ever tell you that you will go blind if you Fish by yourself.

When dealing with a Fishing pro, you never have to wonder if they are really an undercover cop.

You don't have to go to a sleazy shop in a seedy neighborhood to buy Fishing stuff.

You can have a Fishing calendar on your wall at the office, tell Fishing jokes, and invite coworkers to Fish with you without getting sued for Fishing harassment.

There are no Fishing-transmitted diseases.

If you want to watch Fishing on television, you don't have to subscribe to the Playboy channel.

Nobody expects you to Fish with the same partner for the rest of your life.

Nobody expects you to give up Fishing if your partner loses interest in it.

You don't have to be a newlywed to plan a vacation primarily to enjoy your favorite activity.

Your Fishing partner will never say, "Not again? We just Fished last week! Is Fishing all you ever think about?"

Another Republi-CON Myth Bites the Dust

"[W]hat we’ve seen over the past 30 years is that lower marginal tax rates have not led to particularly impressive economic growth, labor markets or revenues. Growth was actually more impressive back when marginal tax rates were higher." Read the Washington Post, Tax rates and economic growth in one graph.

Keep America Great: Spend, Cut, Tax and Invest

Where is the "candidate who could run in 2012 and deliver the shock therapy to the corrupt, encrusted, two-party duopoly now running the show in America.

Such a Third Party would have a simple agenda: 1) Inject a short-term stimulus. 2) Enact Simpson-Bowles. 3) Shrink our presence in Afghanistan. 4) Raise automobile mileage standards. 5) Impose a gasoline tax to pay for a massive increase in government-supported scientific research and a carbon tax to pay for new infrastructure and stimulate clean-power innovation."

Republi-CON Religious Hypocrisy

"Whether the topic is hair length, celibacy, when life begins, or divorce, time and again, the leaders most opposed to gay marriage have demonstrated an incredible willingness to consider nuances and complicating considerations when their own interests are at stake." Read CNN, Bible condemns a lot, so why focus on homosexuality?

More proof that you don’t need to base opinions and decisions on sentences taken "at random from a 400-year-old English translation of a group of ten tangentially related Middle Eastern texts transcribed from Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic oral histories".

Did You Ever Wonder . . .

From an email:

Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety-one?

If 4 out of 5 people suffer from diarrhea... does that mean that one out of five enjoys it?

Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale bread to begin with?

If people from Poland are called Poles, then why aren't people from Holland called Holes?

Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist, but a person who drives a racecar is not called a racist?

Do Lipton Tea employees take 'coffee breaks?'

What hair color do they put on the driver's licenses of bald men?

Questions a Dog Might Ask God

From an email:

Dear God: Is it on purpose our names are the same, only reversed?

Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom smell one another?

Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a Dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the 'Chrysler Beagle'?

Dear God: If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad Dog?

Dear God: We Dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?

Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog.
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'.
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.
10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the carpet.
11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?

A Short Love Story

From an email:

A man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a trans-continental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper berth and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying, 'Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold.'

'I have a better idea,' she replied 'Just for tonight, let's pretend that we're married.'

'Wow! That's a great idea!', he exclaimed.

'Good,' she replied. 'Get your own damn blanket.'

After a moment of silence, he farted.

27. A diplomat is someone who tells you to go to hell in such a way that you look forward to the trip.

28. Hospitality is making your guests feel at home even when you wish they were.

29. I always take life with a grain of salt. Plus a slice of lemon, and a shot of tequila.

30. When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water.

Why Do Republi-CONs Lie?

Because, "bias, lack of logic and other [irrational] flaws that pollute the stream of reason are . . . social adaptations that enable one group to persuade (and defeat) another. Certitude works, however sharply it may depart from the truth. . . Truth and accuracy [are] beside the point." Read The New york Times, Reason Seen More as Weapon Than Path to Truth.

This explains why it is a complete waste of time to argue with a Republi-con.

Republi-CONs and Their Fantasy Economic Plans

Pawlenty’s economic "plan isn’t optimistic. It isn’t a bit vague. It’s a joke. And I don’t know which is worse: The thought that Pawlenty knows that and went forward with this pandering, fantasy-based proposal anyway, or the thought that he doesn’t know it, and he really thinks this could work." Read the Washington Post, Tim Pawlenty’s fantasy economic plan.
