As noted before, there exists in the country a fundamentalist subculture of ignorance that embraces 'discredited, ridiculous and even dangerous ideas'. Some call it right-wing media.
"[R]ational thinking and common sense hold little sway in the hearts and minds of those who fervently believe secretive forces within our armed forces and the government they are sworn to protect are capable of nefarious deeds. Conspiracy theories are not a new phenomenon; many commonly held conspiracies actually date back centuries. But the Internet [and right wing media allow] a thought to reach millions with a single keystroke, [and] has made it much easier for conspiracy theories to develop and flourish."
Don't be duped. "[R]esist believing everything you read. . .
To help you determine the accuracy of information you come across on the Web, plenty of sites provide tools for fact-checking and getting background material," read MOAA, Truth-Testing on the Internet.
