Praying for the Rapture

UPDATE: Alas, hope is not lost. "Rabbis for Human Rights, whose members get arrested or beaten up while protecting Palestinians, exemplifies the very best of Israel." Read The New York Times, In Israel, the Noble vs. The Ugly.

Stuff like this won't bring peace to the Middle East. Read the Washington Post, Tensions build in Palestinian neighborhood over plans to demolish 22 houses.

Why will the houses be demolished? "[T]o make room for a park that would flank a promenade of restaurants, art studios and shops." This is a clear example of the abuse of the power of eminent domain.

We'll see the Republi-con hypocrisy in full measure on this one.

P.S. For another good read on Israel's "morally repugnant" policies, read The New York Times, The Two Sides of a Barbed-Wire Fence.
