Meet Some of Those Trump Deplorables

"In the days since I wrote that Hillary Clinton wasn’t necessarily wrong to say that half of Trump’s supporters are racists and other 'deplorables,' the response has been, well, deplorable. A sampling of the thousands of emails and social media replies:

'Please do not tell me you think we whites are just as violent, nasty, and/or Godless as the other races.'

'You call it racism, I call it concern that in time 'foreign' folks will have the voting power to make the USA another Muslim state.'

Another writer informed me that 'blacks are the most violent population in America,' that 'blacks work the least of any race in America' and that 'black women have the lowest moral standards of all women in America,' concluding: 'The biggest problem for blacks is blacks.'

Many others suggested I perform an impossible sex act on myself and another sex act on male genitals, called me a 'scumbag' and far worse, and suggested I eat feces. Some took the opportunity to inform me that I and my fellow Jews are 'the most racist people on the Earth,' that I worship Satan, and that my children and I will be boiled in oil.

Then this simple note was sent to me: 'I hope you outlive your children.'

I reprint this small sample of the nastygrams not to ruin your next meal but because the half of Trump supporters who aren’t motivated by prejudice, and the few voters who remain genuinely undecided, should be aware of the bigotry that Trump has brought into the open — and that those who vote for Trump are condoning. . .

As this was happening, Trump’s campaign chair in Mahoning County in eastern Ohio resigned after she told the Guardian in a video interview that there wasn’t 'any racism until Obama got elected.'

'If you’re black and you haven’t been successful in the last 50 years, it’s your own fault,' the official, Kathy Miller, said. 'When do they take responsibility for how they live? I think it’s due time, and I think it’s good that Mr. Trump is pointing that out.'

And in Charlotte, Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-N.C.), an enthusiastic Trump backer who claimed he had Trump’s support in his primary, told the BBC that the Charlotte protesters 'hate white people because white people are successful and they’re not.' . .

What’s truly deplorable is that Trump — unlike Romney and others who carried the Republican banner before — is encouraging the sentiment."

"Ich bin ein Skittle!!" (© DontVoteHate.com)

UPDATE:  "This fear-based thinking was echoed by Donald Trump Jr., who on Monday tweeted a photograph of a bowl of Skittles and the caption: “If I had a bowl of skittles and told you just three would kill you. Would you take a handful? That’s our Syrian refugee problem.”

The tweet left me more worried about our educational problem than our refugee problem. Trump Jr. failed to capitalize Skittles, a brand name — surprising for someone whose whole career involves maintaining the Trump brand (or is that the “trump” brand?). The punctuation is wrong, leaving the message to start with a sentence fragment of the kind corrected in elementary school grammar classes. The photo of the Skittles was taken by a former refugee from Cyprus and used by Trump without payment, even though it was copyrighted. So Trump Jr. condemns refugees while exploiting them — and his math is as bad as his grammar. According to a report last week from the Cato Institute, a conservative think tank, the odds of an American being killed in a terrorist attack by a refugee is 1 in 3.64 billion in any given year. That means you’d have to eat 68.7 million handfuls of Skittles before you found Trump Jr.’s poisoned one."

Read the Washington Post, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Trump is so scared that he wants us to dismantle the Constitution.

In the debates, Clinton should comment about how all those different colors of Skittles together are so good.  Who wants a bag of just hateful angry Skittles?"

Then hand Trump some Skittles!

Inspired by the Washington Post, Skittles gave the perfect response to Donald Trump Jr.

Trump is a Con Man, and His Supporters are Chumps

UPDATE II:  "A week ago, a panhandler in Times Square sat holding a sign reading, “Give me a dollar or I’ll vote for Trump,” and people laughed and reached into their pockets. His bucket overflowed. He stuffed the bills into his jacket, and other panhandlers looked at him with admiration. The man could’ve sold franchises and retired to Palm Beach.

The panhandler knows what every New Yorker knows, which is that the biggest con job since the Trojan horse is taking place in our midst. Millions of Americans are planning to cast their votes for a man who has lived his life contrary to all of their most cherished values. They are respectful, honest, generous, loyal, modest, church-going people with no Mafia connections and good credit records who try not to spout off about things they know nothing about. . .

Trump is a man whom few Republicans would care to invite into their homes. So what’s going on here? An epidemic of hippocampus poisoning from bad enzymes in cheap beers? The man is a fraud, a compulsive liar and a clueless playboy whose presidency would be an unmitigated disaster for the country. If you would make us the laughingstock of the world just to irk your liberal sister-in-law, you are someone who should not be allowed to come within 500 yards of an elementary school.

The success of Trump would show our children the exact value of education, which is: not that much. It would mean that fact-based journalism had very little bearing in America and a Manila-born Ceylonese child could aspire to the highest office in the land. So here’s a dollar in the beggar’s bucket. Good luck to democracy. Hang in there.

Read the Washington Post, The biggest con job since the Trojan horse.

UPDATE: "Trump has said he is a populist, and his heart-stoppingly expensive hotel at times has the casual vibe of the amusement park you’d drive one hour to visit but not two. Six Flags Trump, the spiritual home of the carnival-barker presidential candidate."

Two days after my stay, I will learn that Priceline is advertising Deluxe rooms like mine for $376 a night. "

If you doubt it read the Washington Post, Trump’s new hotel offers everything he claims to hate.

Will There Be an October Surprise to Benefit Trump, Courtesy of Russian Operatives?

UPDATE:  Read the Washington Post, U.S. investigating potential covert Russian plan to disrupt November elections.

The article focuses on cyber disruptions, but physical attacks designed to undermine public confidence are not out of the question.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to see Donald Trump become the next president of the United States. To that end, Putin and his government have taken unprecedented steps to influence our electoral process to help the Republican Party’s nominee. Whether Russia’s interventions will succeed is not obvious. But it’s clear that Putin’s government has the motives — and the means — to try."

Read the Washington Post, Why Putin wants a Trump victory (so much he might even be trying to help him).

And "[i]n American political jargon, an October surprise is a news event deliberately created or timed (or sometimes occurring spontaneously) to influence the outcome of an election, particularly one for the U.S. presidency. The reference to the month of October is because the date for national elections (as well as many state and local elections) occurs in early November, and, therefore, events that take place in late October have greater potential to influence the decisions of prospective voters."

Anybody remember those Russian apartment building bombings in 1999, which some speculate were "perpetrated by the FSB in order to legitimize the resumption of military activities in Chechnya and bring Vladimir Putin to the presidency."
